    Section 4: Qualifications of Treatment Providers, Evaluators, and Polygraph Examiners Working with Sex Offenders
  • On May 15, 2026, the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board reviewed proposed revisions to the Standards and Guidelines for the Assessment, Evaluation, Treatment, and Behavioral Monitoring of Adult Sex Offenders. 

    Per the Administrative Policies, any changes to the Standards and Guidelines are subject to Public Comment. All public comments will be reviewed by the Best Practices Committee. These committees will review the public comments received and will make any necessary changes. Subsequent changes will then be presented to the SOMB for final ratification at a future meeting. 

    Revisions Summary:

    The Application Review Committee proposed revisions to both the Adult and Juvenile Standards and Guidelines, Section 4: Qualifications of Treatment Providers, Evaluators, and Polygraph Examiners Working with Sex Offenders.  The following is a summary of the revisions made to clarify the relationship between clinical supervisors and supervisees to provide consistency within the field:

    Revision Period January 2026 - December 2026
    Planned approval Process: March 2026 - May 2026


    Planned Implementation period: May 2026-June 2026
    Planned Effective Date: July 1, 2026
